Lisbon's LX Factory hosts the launch of Opera Lab Europe (OLÉ), a new ensemble founded by Max Hoehn and Inês Simões. Max will direct Café Carnage, a trio of a cappella operas by Judith Weir, Stephen Oliver and Zad Moultaka, as part of a new festival of music without labels: Música na Fábrica (30th June - 2nd July 2017). 

2017/18 plans include productions at Grand Théâtre de Genève, Oper Frankfurt, scenes for the National Opera Studio in collaboration with Scottish Opera and a touring version of Il Matrimonio Segreto.

Max was a prize-winner at the 9th Europäischer Opernregie-Preis in Berlin in the face of competition from 78 creative teams. 

Max was nominated for 'Best Young Director' at the 2016 International Opera Awards for 'Biedermann and the Arsonists'. A 10-minute excerpt is now available on The Opera Platform.
